Made this for a quick and easy dessert for a group dinner and it disappeared fast. Its easy and tasty! For variety I used a can of blueberry pie filling on one side and cherry on the other. I doubled the recipe. AWESOME!

I have made this numerous times in the past, is very good made with a chocolate cake mix ( sort of a Black Forest type cake) or use the original recipe and use blueberry pie filling, very yummy. For Fall try pumpkin pie mix on the bottom then a spice cake mix on top. Can add chopped pecans or walnuts too. Just use your imagination and enjoy.

loved it! adjusted the recipe slighty by using fresh black cherries instead of filling and sprinkled a 1T sugar over them. Still sweet and moist. Super easy recipe and also great with blueberries!!!

I almost always make "Dump Cake" when I'm asked to bring a dessert, however, my original recipe suggests topping the fruit with dry cake mix, then covering that with thin slices of butter. I tried the Betty Crocker version (melted butter) and it's a winner! Easier, faster, less butter, yet tastes just as yummy!

This is a huge hit when we go camping. We love making it in a cast iron skillet and baked over the open fire. We have it prepared and as soon as dinner comes off the fire, this is placed on the grate--put it off to the side so it's not blazzing hot. Keep rotating the pan so it "bakes" evenly. Also, I line the cast iron skillet with a couple of layers of aluminum foil (sprayed/buttered LIBERALLY) to keep from sticking or burning on the bottom. Just keep an eye on it. Will take approximately 45-60 minutes depending on heat of fire. Of course...if you have an oven in your camper, you can just as easily prepare it the old fashioned way.
