I made two versions of these, one with walnuts, since my son is allergic to pecans, and one without. OMG!!!! they are wonderful. I did however put more apple than it called for, I think more would have been even better. My husband would not stop eating them. Great recipe! I will make them again, and again. Very quick and easy to make. TiMi

These are soooo yummy! I followed the directions exactly (except that I used a whole large apple, which was probably a little more than 1 cup), and it turned out perfectly! The tartness of the Granny Smith apple was a perfect balance to the sweetness of the bar. We ate them while they were still just a little warm, and they were a huge hit! A scoop of ice cream would have been an excellent addition. [For those who felt there was not enough mix to cover the bottom of the 13x9 pan -- I found it helpful to use my hands to gently smooth the mixture to the edges. There was enough to make a thin layer -- which puffed up while baking.]

First of all, I didn't think these were all that much easier than if I had made the cookie dough from scratch. If I had made them from scratch, they would have tasted much better. We ate a few bars, but I ended up throwing most of them out.

My granddaughter and I like to spend time in the kitchen creating new recipes that catch our eye. We found the Betty Crocker recipe for the Easy Caramel Apple Bars and went to work. These bars are extremely delicious. We loves them so much we have made them for our elderly neighbors and friends. They all love them as much as we do and many have asked for the recipe. What a great treat.

I made these exactly as directed the first time. They were good but too thin (in my opinion). The second time I made them the same, except I used an 8 x 8 pan. When they came out of the oven (the 2nd time) I drizzled more carmel topping over them. After cooling in pan I cut generous squares, nuked for 15 seconds and topped with vanilla ice cream. Yummy.

5 Spoons for taste, however... I made 3 batches at one time. Used 5 bags of Cookie mix (based on other reviews). I wanted a good bar and would rather spend a little extra to get the results as they were sooooo good! Also, no frustration with trying to use exact portions. Also on advice of other reviews, used 2 cups of apples, you could even use a little more but 2 worked nicely. I did not add any other spices or nuts as I wanted to try the recipe closer to the original before adjusting, might add nuts in future but not everyone can eat them so I left them out. I used non-stick foil to line the pan, good choice as the bars lifted right out and were easy to cut but I let them cool 3-4 hours. Only cut in 24 squares per pan, seemed like a better portion. Stored in fridge using parchment to keep layers separated. Several people asked for the recipe so I would say 5 Spoons!!!

These are deelicious...I made two 8x8 pans and had to freeze one of them for their own safety! The only thing I did different was use sugar free caramel topping. Will definitely make again.

I must have done something wrong because I do not love them like everyone else who left a review. The taste is good but on day 2, the apples are rubbery and the bar itself is too moist (yes, that can be a bad thing). I'm sorry to be the downer, but I just didn't love these apple bars. :(

I made these yesterday for my friends B-day treat... They were wonderful.... I too like a couple other reviews didn't seem to have enough mix to cover the baking pan after reserving 1 1/2 cups - so I used it all. Maybe you should call for a 8x8 or 9x9 pan. Thanks God I had another package of cookie mix to make more for the crumble on top - used about 1/3 of the package mix and 1/4 stick of butter.... I also sprinkled some cinnamon over the apples as others had suggested. Thanks for a terrific recipe....
