Just made this for my sons college graduation! Everyone loved them. I followed others advice and added more apples, I used 3. I also added cinnamon because we enjoy this added spice. I look forward to making these for many more family gatherings including church and pot lucks. Thank you Betty!

Step three was confusing. It says "Reserve 1 1/2 cups cookie mixture." It also states "cups", so I took out a cup and a half to reserve. That did not leave me enough to make a layer on the pan. So obviously I had to take out of the reserve. I needed more than just the additional cup, so then I had to add more oatmeal and butter to the reserve mixture to put on top at the end. The wording of the direction is a fine tweak, but one that is needed to avoid confusion. They are in the oven now and smelling wonderful!!!!

Bar recipe is easy to make and doesn't take a lot of time. This is a moist, chewy bar using favorites such as apple and caramel. Using the cookie pouches have become a favorite for recipes. Keep these recipes coming!

I made these bars for my family's Thanksgiving dinner. The ingredients were cheap (I am a college student) and the apples were on sale. My daddy, who does not even like caramel and apples together, tried it and loved it. It was a hit. If you are looking for an easy, yummy dessert recipe this is it!

The key word in this recipe is EASY. Some people wrote reviews saying they didn't like that this had a cookie mix base, although that is what makes these so EASY! And they are delicious just the way they are! I used Cortland and Gala apples and thought they worked great because I couldn't find any of the recommended varieties. Also, it really doesn't make a difference if you have to take some of the dough reserved for the topping to fill out the bottom of the pan, there is plenty of mix to use for patching up the bottom and making the crumble topping.

I think these bars are just yummy. I do agree with others by adding more apples then the recipe calls for. I brought them to a function and everybody loved them. I am going to make these as one of my Thanksgiving dessert. I also had some warmed in the microwave with vanilla ice cream, FANTASTIC!!!!
