There are so many things that can be done with Betty Crocker cake mixes...including this recipe of course. I've been fiddling with BC cake mix desserts for years and have found that almost any type of quick bread comes out 'just right' given a little common sense. If my bananas are small I use more and it may take a bit longer to cook if I use half applesauce and half bananas. Cooking times will vary greatly depending on oven temperature and whether or not the TOP of the pan is in the middle of the oven, and what type of pan is used. These recipes are good, standardized recipes. If another brand of cake mix is used be aware that the results may not be the same. And for the person whose chocolate chips sunk, try shaking the chips in a dusting of flour and adding them last by folding not mixing. They will stay disbursed throughout the batter. Some things not mentioned in this recipe that can be added to the basic recipe are cooked oatmeal with apples or raisins, applesauce, cranberries or blueberries, well drained pineapple...the list is almost endless. Cake mix cookies are also as versatile.

I have made this recipe many times and each time it gets better and better. For those of us on Weight Watchers is comes out to about 4 or 5 points per slice, well worth it. I always add pecans or walnuts. I use GoldTouch bakeware and it makes the most brown crust with a perfectly done inside. My neighbors make the same recipe but used dollar store baking pans, his didn't turn out as well as mine. Choose your bakeware carefully. Also the baking time is off like the other commented, I baked mine for a littleover an hour, just test it with a toothpick before you take it out.

Fast, easy and tasty! As the other reviewers have noted; the baking time is incorrect. In my oven it took exactly one hour to come out perfect. Not as dense as a traditional banana bread, but still very good and it couldn't have been easier to throw together!

Tried the variation of spice cake w/cream cheese. The one slice I got from the pan was very yummy! However after 1 1/2 hours of cooking, the next couple of slices were still not cooked all the way. Also it cooked right over the edges of the pan making a huge mess, luckly I put a piece of foil under my pan. Next time I will split the amount between two loaf pans. Not sure how any of the other variations would fit in one loaf pan either. Anyone else have issues like this?

Super yummy! I actually doubled the recipe so I could swirl the chocolate cake mix and yellow cake mix (with chocolate chips). It is far too yummy. I did have to leave it in longer than suggested. I also found that all my chocolate chips sunk to the bottom and for some reason stuck to the bottom of the loaf pans. Next time I will put in the yellow cake mix, sprinkle chocolate chips over mix, put chocolate mix on top and swirl. Beautiful and makes plenty to share with friends.

Loved it!!!! I do not like banana bread but this I couldn't stop eating! So simple and so good! Even my kids who do not like anything with bananas in it ate this! I highly recommend! I found the baking time to be accurate however I was using 4x8 bread pans.

I made the banana-strawberry mix last night and yes you have to leave it longer than what the recipe calls for.

This should be baked at 350 degrees for about 65 minutes not as the recipe says.
