Easy Bolognese

Bolognese refers to dishes served with a thick meat and vegetable sauce. Our fire roasted tomato cooking sauce and a frozen veggie blend make this classic extra-easy. Serve over pasta with shaved Parmesan.

Ingredients

lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1 1/2
cups frozen onions, celery, green and red pepper blend (from 12-oz bag)
1
can (18 oz) Progresso™ Recipe Starters™ fire roasted tomato cooking sauce
1/3
cup dry white or red wine
1/4
cup whipping cream

  • 1 In 10-inch skillet, cook beef and frozen vegetable blend over medium-high heat, stirring frequently, until beef is thoroughly cooked; drain.
  • 2 Add 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, the cooking sauce and wine; heat to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered 12 to 15 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Stir in whipping cream; heat until hot.

If you can't find the frozen vegetables, use equal parts fresh onion, celery and bell pepper.

If desired, also add 1/2 cup diced or shredded carrot, adding with beef and frozen vegetables.
