Betty Crocker 4-Ingredient Dinners shares a recipe. What’s twice as good as grilled cheese on your favorite bread? Double-the-cheese sandwiches!

Ingredients

3
tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
8
slices bread
4
slices (1 ounce each) Cheddar cheese
4
slices (1 ounce each) Monterey Jack or mozzarella cheese

Directions

  • 1 Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  • 2 Place 4 slices of bread, buttered sides down, in 12-inch skillet. Top each with 1 slice of Cheddar cheese and 1 slice of Monterey Jack cheese. Top with remaining bread, buttered sides up.
  • 3 Cook uncovered over medium heat about 5 minutes or until bottoms of sandwiches are golden brown; turn. Cook 2 to 3 minutes longer or until bottoms are golden brown and cheese is melted.

Expert Tips

Try other cheese combinations such as Swiss and mozzarella or dilled Havarti and mozzarella.

Add a slice of tomato or a couple strips of cooked bacon before cooking.
