Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. In 12-inch nonstick skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until no longer pink. Remove sausage to paper towels, reserving drippings. Cook onion and bell pepper in drippings until crisp-tender.
  • 2 In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, cornmeal and Parmesan cheese. Cut in butter, using pastry blender, until crumbly. Add boiling water; stir vigorously until dough forms. Spray 10-inch ovenproof skillet with cooking spray. Press dough on bottom and up side of skillet. Arrange cheese slices over crust; spread with 1/3 cup of the pizza sauce. Top with sausage and onion mixture. Arrange two-thirds of the pepperoni over onion mixture. Spread remaining 1/3 cup pizza sauce over pepperoni; top with shredded mozzarella cheese and remaining pepperoni.
  • 3 Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes. Garnish with basil. Cut into 8 wedges; serve with additional pizza sauce, heated, if desired.

tasty! I will definitely make this again, but bake at 375 for 30-35 min. The crust is really good, but needs adjustment. I added another 1-2 Tablespoons water and used my hands to make (pinch) it into a dough.h23kbenn was right about mushrooms, they would be nice with it; but it's not necessary.

Taste is wonderful and super as leftovers! Lots of pizza flavor with a crunchy-biscuit type crust. I omitted the sausage and replaced it with fresh mushrooms that I cooked w/ the peppers and onions. Drain after cooking. I also used turkey pepperoni, yum. I found it really difficult to mix the Bisquick, cornmeal, parmesan cheese and cold butter by hand. I ended up using my Cuisinart and that worked great. Also, I didn't have 10" ovenproof skillet so I used a round baking pan, it was fine, probably just a bit more difficult to cut and serve. I will most likely let it set 15 minutes before I cut next time to let it firm up a bit more. Delicious w/ extra sauce and fresh basil. Yummy.
