Best Flaky Pastry

cup sugar
1/3
cup butter or margarine, melted

cup corn syrup
1/2
teaspoon salt

eggs

cup pecan halves or broken pecans
  • 1 Heat oven to 375°F. Make Best Flaky Pastry.
  • 2 Beat sugar, butter, corn syrup, salt and eggs in medium bowl with wire whisk or hand beater until well blended. Stir in pecans. Pour into pastry-lined pie plate.
  • 3 Bake 40 to 50 minutes or until center is set; cool.

This is the first pecan pie recipe that I ever tried and I won't switch to another. My husband LOVES this pie (claims it is better than his grandmother's, which says a lot). I do make one substitution: A graham cracker crust. The man likes it better than a regular pie crust. This saves time as well so give it a try. Awesome recipe!

This is THE BEST pecan pie recipe! I've been making it for years. I made it again yesterday and my hubby's family just raved about it! I like to substitute the corn syrup for maple syrup, and it's just as good. Other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. My sister-in-law substitutes the corn syrup for sweetened condensed milk, but it just isn't the same. Thank you Betty for teaching me to cook!!!!
