Made this cake last week and found it to be quite dry. Added 1/2 tsp. more almond extract and added cinnamon to the apples. My husband commented that the cake was good, but not to bother making it again. I had a whole different idea that this would be a great tasting cake, but to no avail.

did this recipe being stuck in the house because of the weather. Didn't have fresh apples, so used canned. Also listened to the other reviews and put in some cinnamon. Put batter in pan and then topped it with the apples, then sprinkled with slivered almonds. Baked for 40 mins. and when cooled, topped with a confectionary sugar and milk glaze. Yum, yum. I doubled the recipe making 2-9" rounds. Came out wonderful!!! Will certainly make it again!! It was so easy to make!

I just made this , and i think it is fantastic. I do a lot of baking and would definitely make it again. I added just 1/2 tsp more of almond extract. It was very moist. I wonder if some people reviewing know how to cook.

I found this a bit dry so I put a glaze on top to help hold the almonds on top and to add a little moisture. A bit more almond extract would have added more flavor as would some cinnamon. I likely won't make this again.

I made this cake over the weekend with the wonderful fall apples that have come in. It's absolutely divine and much moister than I thought. Purchasing a springform pan was well worth it! Will make it again for the office crew.

Should of read the reviews, I agree very bland no flavor. It was done at 35 mins. Glad this wasn't for company.

left as is this is a sort of bland recipe. I added nutmeg on top before baking which added a tiny bit of flavor to it. I liked the recipe & thought it could be used for lots of different variations. Next time I make this Ill add cinnamon to the batter. Ill also prob add the almonds before baking or make a streusel as others suggested. Also mine was done at about 40 mins, I think I could have safely taken it out at 35 mins...I think this with some caramel drizzled over it would be amazing!

Pretty good basic coffee cake recipe, given I followed another member's suggestions. I chopped up the apples into smaller pieces and added to the cake batter, and I used the almonds that were supposed to be sprinkled on top in a streusel (I used the streusel recipe from Impossible French Apple Pie). I also omitted the butter in the cake and used applesauce. Yummy!

I agree; it needed some help. I made a powdered sugar/milk glaze and drizzled it on. The almonds stuck better that way too. I also used 2 apples and 1 pear. Cinnamon would be a good addition! It was very easy and good with the changes.
