Betty's Success Tip
Wash wild rice in water before cooking it. Place the rice in a bowl of cold water and swirl it around with your hand. When the water becomes cloudy, drain the rice. Repeat the process until the water remains clear.
Do you have a chicken or turkey roasting in the oven? The flavors of this wild rice dish go perfectly with them and can be made in the cooker, so you don't have to crowd the oven. Open a can of cranberry sauce, cook some green beans in the microwave, mash some potatoes and dinner will be ready in no time.
Finishing Touch
Toast some chopped nuts, such as walnuts or pecans, to add crunch and flavor to this creamy dish. Half a cup of nuts, either stirred in or sprinkled on top, should do the trick.
