“This creamy tomato soup is an updated version of a childhood favorite — Muir Glen’s consistently fresh tomato flavor and moisture content make it a perfect soup base that will deliver the same great flavors every time you make it.” says Chef Will Gilson from Garden at the Cellar Gastropub in Boston

3 stars for the sandwiches. Which were amazing. But the soup... Not a keeper. I'v had way better tomato soup than this..It was bland and I didn't really like the parm cheese in it.

LOVED this! So easy, the basil cheddar sandwhiches are amazing dipped in the soup. I used sourdough bread, and it was perfect and crunchy, although next time I'm going to try crusty french bread like the picture shows. YUM!

I just tried this soup and found it really salty! Anyone else experience that? I think if I try it again I will reduce or eliminate the salt. I was really hoping to find a tomato soup similar to Panera...I will keep trying! And as far as the calories, if it's too high in calories, move on to another recipe!

I am not a tomato soup eater. I am a picky eater. I fixed this soup and I loved it. This is the only tomato soup that I will eat. (Yummy) The grill cheese sandwiches goes great with this soup. It's easy to make and worth making. Give it a try and I'm sure you will like it.

Good recipe. I added fresh basil to the soup after pureeing. For those who commented on the nutritional info, my philosophy is to eat good food with amazing flavor and ingrediants and if a dish that is eaten once in a while has questionable nutrition values, EAT A SMALLER PORTION and add a salad with no dressing. We don't have to give up everything ALL the time!

Enjoyed the soup but didn't try the sandwich yet. Reviews are supposed to be about the food (taste, apprearance, easy of prep, etc). The nutritional info is there for those who need it but the review is NOT for posts about "oh my how much fat, carbs, etc is in this". If it's not for you, then move on to a different recipe. That's why the info is there! As for me, I like to try a recipe at least once and if I like it, then look for ways to make it healthier if I can. If you use fresh grated or shaved parmesan in this you can cut the amount down for it has a much stronger flavor than a can of grated. As far as the whipping cream, after following the recipe the 1st time, I may try using reduced fat 1/2 & 1/2 or evaporated milk instead. Who knows but I would review the soup & sandwich, not the nutritional content.

I couldn't believe how creamy and delicious this recipe was. I thought it was divine! It is rich, hearty, and flavorful. Then, there is a crunch to the sandwich...nothing I like better than soup and a sandwich. Besides, after I married, I let him watch my weight, instead. ;)

This soup and sandwich combo is perfect for a cold day! Super simple to make and delicious. I used french bread for my grilled cheeses and they were terrific. And I agree with the other reviewer that actually made this recipe, you shouldn't review something you haven't tried. Plus, why are you making grilled cheese if you are cutting calories? Either use substitues or find healthier recipes. But this combo is well-balanced and super yummy!
