I use this recipe as a starting point, but make a few modifications: Skip the sour cream; use red wine vinegar to taste instead of lemon juice; add a little red cabbage for color; add green pepper; and most important...add a little cayenne pepper for a nice kick. Everyone raves about it!

Sounds good except for the sugar. I despise sweet coleslaw. That is why I never order it in restaurants because they ruin it with sugar. I would try it without the sugar. My usual coleslaw recipe is cabbage, mayonnaise, vinegar, mustard to color, and salt and pepper to taste.

I see this recipe serves 8 and that it has a calorie-count of 110 per serving - Does anyone know what constitutes a 'serving' ?? 1/2 cup ?? It seems that I cannot submit this question until I 'select a rating'--Based on the recipe ingredients (which is almost identical to mine) -- and I love mine!! well - there you go -- 5 spoons!!! YEAH

This is a fantastic recipe that I always use to accompany eastern North Carolina-style pulled pork barbecue. I find that the coleslaw is much better when it is made with Savoy cabbage -- ordinary cabbage has a sharpness that is much mellower with the Savoy.

I'm not a big coleslaw fan. This one was pretty good, for coleslaw. Better than average.

This is most of the items I am allowed to eat. Because of dietary "issues", I substituted fat free sour cream for the sour cream and Splenda for the sugar. Also had to leave our the salt. This is actually one recipe my husband will eat. He is not a veggie eater and that's about all I can eat. Need more Low or fat free recipes like this.

I finely chopped everything rather than shredding because I like a chunkier slaw. This was divine and received rave reviews from the neighbors and fam. Perfect side for the 4th of July. We WILL be making this again for future cookouts.

I love this recipe. It is simple and even picky eaters cannot find anything wrong. But...because I have a load of picky eaters, I grate the onion rather than chopping it, only use mayo, and skip the celery seed. Sometimes I use Splenda instead of sugar. Obviously it is great on top of pulled pork or brisket sandwiches, but try this on top of bbq'd hot dogs! You will LOVE it!

I 'liked' this recipe but had to change it a bit. I would omit the onions next time. It did not taste right in my opinion with an onion flavor. Also, I would add more sour cream and also add some buttermilk. It was a little dry without. I loved the celery seed though! I would make it again with the above suggestions!

This is the tastiest dressing I've found. Don't be shy, add shredded peeled broccoli stems, thin bias sliced celery, the options are boundless!
