EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Your preference for biscuits may say a lot about where you live. Most Northerners prefer tender, flaky biscuits with large volume. Southerners tend to like crunchy biscuits with soft, crumbly insides.

Before baking, biscuits can be covered and refrigerated up to 4 hours. Bake as directed.

If dough is too sticky, gradually mix in enough Bisquick mix (up to 1/4 cup) to make dough easy to handle.

I just made these this morning on the spur of the moment. I didn't want any nuts, so I just doubled the chopped dried cranberries and eliminated the nuts. I soaked the cranberries in the milk while I pre-heated the oven and measured the Bisquick and sugar. I used low-fat Bisquick and 2% milk because that's what we have. Drop biscuits never look like much, but these were a lovely treat with our morning coffee! Chock-full of yummy cranberries, warm with butter.....I will definitely make these again - so easy and quick.

These are so tasty, and by using the Heart Smart Bisquick, they seem pretty healthy, too! I substituted pecans for the walnuts, but that is just a personal preference. They make a nice change from just a plain dinner roll or biscuit along with your meal.
