These are excellent meatballs. First let me say, I take a shortcut and buy a bag of quality meatballs from "the club". I made these for a Christmas Eve party appetizer, and they were so great, I can't wait to make them for the next party or potluck. The sauce was so good you just want to slurp it up. I used the ENTIRE can of Jellied Cranberry Sauce. (It was a 14 ounce can). That is how the recipe is written on the cranberry company's website, and it turned out so great, I would never try it any differently. The person who had lumps in their sauce, perhaps did not have the 'jellied' sauce.

Christina, I found bottles of chili sauce in with the condiments (ketchup, steak sauce, etc.) at my local grocery store. I used a whole can of cranberry sauce because the chili was overwhelming. But the cranberry sauce never completely dissolved, so I had small clumps, but it turned out okay. That may just be something I didn't do right. I made everything up the night before, but then didn't put the sauce on the meatballs until I was ready to warm and serve. The flavors combined as it sat overnight, so I think the sauce tasted better when served than when I made it. All in all it turned out good.

I have made these twice, and both times they all went and everyone loved them. The only thing is the cranberry on top is way too sour so I have left them off.
