To Pegg3265...I think you misread the amount of the french fried onion. It calls for 2.8 ounces not 28 ounces...that's a little less than 1/2 of one 6 oz. can.

I would assume that hot pepper sauce is the same as tabasco sauce and similar sauces. As for the onions and generally cut prices, try a bulk or discount center or look for a store brand. I find that store brands are usually satisfactory

I am substituting one of my vegetable bags with broccoli, cauliflower and carrots in cheese sauce. I'll let you know how it turns out, but first I have to find RED PEPPER SAUCE, is that the same as hot sauce? I am also finding it impossible to locate the French Fried Onions in a large can! The cans I have seen are 6 ounces and cost close to $3.00 each, the casserole is the meal at that price, any suggestions, where did you guys find your onions? a bulk food store?

I really wanted to like this recipe but made it and took it to a function and it was not good. It is really expensive to make. $7.00 or $8.00 for this side dish is way too much.

This is super simple to make as a complete dinner casserole. Simply add chopped ham, leftover turkey, or chicken, add a salad, and you have a meal!

This is the best casserole ever! Every time I make it for a get together, there are no leftovers. Excellent choice.

Have made this several times and it's been a hit every time. Have added a little velveeta a couple times and made it a bit cheesier, but this isn't necessary.

I've made this several times. The Green Giant veggies are difficult to locate. I've only been able to find them in Wal-Mart. It's worth going out of my way to get them though. I love this and it's always very popular for holiday meals.
