I think this is the recipe I remember from childhood; my late sister Laura used it a few times, called them Dream Bars. She'd taken home-ec at school and the recipe was out of a used Betty Crocker Cookbook from class. We were raised in a little town in western NY and this is in one of my earliest fond memories of her.

Oh My Gosh, This was the Greatest. I make a pie similar to this, but a lot more trouble. The only difference is the Pie also has raisins in it. Next time I will add raisins. I took the pie to my hairdressers and everyone including customers had to have recipe. I have an appointment this week and I will take these with me this time.

This recipe was delicious! I didn't have a 9x9 pan so I used an 8x8 one instead. I really loved the coconut filling, very moist and tasty.

This recipe is delicious but the filling is not enough to make it gooey, it is more like a cookie than a bar. Any suggestions to make the filling more gooey would be appreciated.
