package Betty Crocker Oatmeal Cookie Mix (in a pouch)

cup butter, softened (not melted)

can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk

cups semisweet chocolate chips

teaspoon salt

teaspoon vanilla

cup chopped walnuts (if desired)
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. In large bowl, prepare oatmeal cookie mix as directed on back of package by adding softened butter, water and egg. Stir until dough is mixed. Set aside.
  3. In medium saucepan, heat sweetened condensed milk, chocolate chips, butter and salt over low heat. Stir until smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and walnuts.
  4. Press two-thirds of the oatmeal cookie mixture into the bottom of the baking pan. Spread chocolate mixture evenly over the top. Drop bite-sized chunks of the remaining mixture on top.
  5. Bake 30-35 minutes. Cool completely then cut into bars.
