I used Red Velvet Cake and Cheesecake pudding then topped it with Cool Whip. My boyfriend had a few friends over Saturday night for a small gathering - 6 guys to be exact. All I had left was three pieces when the night ended. They all kept coming back for more. I read all the comments about the cake drying out, but mine was supremely moist and tasted amazing. I just made another one for him to take to an office potluck tomorrow. Next time I'm going to use Red Velvet Cake and White Chocolate Pudding...the possibilities with this cake are endless!

I made this over the weekend. It was good but i think i made the pudding to thick because it would not go down into the holes so all the pudding was on top of the cake. Do not know if i will make this again

This was my first attempt at a recioe from this site- really, really good. Instead of using chocolate puding, I used pistachio flavored pudding, and chopped up some pistachios and sprinkled them across the top. The pale green from the pudding was so pretty- definitely recommend this.

I made these alot in the summer, MOST REFRESHING. After my daughter married she makes them and they are a hit at her picnics. I have used various flavor cake mixes, and regular cake mixes, Not Fudgie ones, as they do dry out if over bakes. All Regular Cak mixes are fine- Lemon is good also, but bake in a Bundt pant, too.

I made this cake and here all of my pointers for the next person to make this cake for the first time. #1 take the cake out of the oven 10 min early. #2 poke the cake all the way to the bottom regardless of w/e you've read on other reviews. #3 use 2 boxes of pudding!!!! #4 after the cake and pudding has been in the refrigerator for about an hour, add two tubs of cool whip on top. I made this cake exactly as directed and the cake was dry from having to be in the refrigerator, so take it out of the oven extra early because you'll need that extra moisture to help with the dryness. Also, I simply poked the cake as indicated and it makes the bottom half of the cake seem even that much more dry, dont be afraid to poke all the way to the bottom, pudding becomes firm in the refrigerator, it wont be all soggy or anything when you cut it. I say use 2 boxes because one was NOT enough. Also, add cool whip to the top of the cake because the cake was on the plain side and needed a little something extra and I used one tub and one tub was not enough.

really good and super moist. I used a chocolate cake mix and an instant oreo pudding mix with coolwhip on top. everyone loved it. i found that poking the holes to where they just hit the bottom of the pan is the best.

I've made this cake for a long time. You can add fruit (I usually do the frozen raspberries- thawed)to the bottom of your holes and top with the whipped frosting. I have always done chocolate, but there are endless possibilities out there. I can never get it to look super pretty, but I never have any complaints when I make it.

Spice cake with butterscotch pudding on top is awesome! Try pushing the spoon handle down to the bottom of pan and wriggling it side to side to enlarge the holes a bit.

I read other reviews and was worried about making the cake too soggy like other posts mentioned so I don't think I made my holes deep enough. There seemed to be more pudding on top of the cake than inside like someone else mentioned. I actually thought it needed more pudding on it. I made my pudding by beating it with a mixer to make it more like a mousse, and I let it sit for a minute to thicken it. Once I put it on top of the cake it spread like frosting on it. I really do like this idea but more as a filling instead. Next time, I think I will do the same thing, letting it sit before smoothing it on the cake, but using the pudding as a filling between 2 cakes and then frosting the top like normal with a butter-cream frosting. I love bannana filled chocolate cakes and they are so hard to find a bakery that makes these, so I have an idea to make banana pudding and use it as a filling in between the chocolate cakes, then topping it with a rich chocolate butter cream frosting!
