To hannah23c - Some stores sell "already" crushed peppermint. One store is the chain store "Joann's". You can find this item packaged in bags around the holidays only. I made these tarts and took to a Christmas party. Not only were they well received, but they made a beautiful presentation. I placed them on a white tray. I did end up making a double batch for the large gathering. (Be sure to sprinkle on the powdered sugar right before serving. Had to promise the recipe to quite a few people.

These were a big hit at a friend's Christmas party. The peppermint candy didn't crush quite enough and I had to keep stopping in the middle of frosting them and pull out chunks. That is just my own advice for next time! Other than that they were a surprise for the palette if your expecting a cupcake.

This recipe is delicious and a perfect mix of chocolate and mint. The mint isn't too overpowering which is nice. The only concern I have is that the center is still gooey after 9 minutes. I put them back in but it just closes the middle holes.
