Chocolate-Orange Brownies

Cream cheese frosted chocolate brownies made with Betty Crocker Original Supreme brownie mix are given a hint of citrus.

box (1 lb 2.4 oz) Betty Crocker™ Original Supreme Premium brownie mix
cup orange juice
cup vegetable oil
teaspoon orange extract
container (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped cream cheese frosting
tablespoon orange sugar

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease bottom only of 8- or 9-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray.
  • 2 In medium bowl, stir brownie mix, pouch of chocolate syrup, orange juice, oil and egg until blended. Spread batter in pan.
  • 3 Bake 8-inch pan 42 to 45 minutes, 9-inch pan 34 to 37 minutes, or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Cool completely in pan on cooling rack, about 1 hour 30 minutes.
  • 4 Stir orange extract into frosting. Frost brownies; sprinkle with orange sugar. Refrigerate about 30 minutes or until firm. Cut into 4 rows by 4 rows.

Expert Tips

Substitute raspberry extract for the orange extract and red sugar for orange, if desired.

To cut the brownies, use a sharp knife and clean the blade after each cut.
