LOCATION

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350ºF (325ºF for dark or nonstick pan). Grease bottom only of 8-inch or 9-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray.
  • 2 In medium bowl, stir brownie mix, pouch of chocolate syrup, water, oil, egg, espresso, walnuts and 1/3 cup of the chocolate chips until well blended. Spread in pan. Sprinkle with remaining 1/3 cup chocolate chips and the coffee beans.
  • 3 Bake 38 to 41 minutes (8-inch pan), 34 to 38 minutes (9-inch pan), or until toothpick inserted 2 inches from side of pan comes out almost clean. Serve slightly warm for gooey brownies, or cool completely for easier cutting. Cut into 4 rows by 4 rows.

EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

Line your pan with foil when making brownies. The cooled brownies will lift right out, so you can easily cut them into uniform squares.

To cut the brownies into triangles, first cut them into squares, then cut each square diagonally in half.

The recipe is awesome, but I use the Taster's Choice single serving instant packages for the coffee and the variety packs of different kinds of chocolate covered espresso beans that can be found at Harry and David. I ALWAYS keep the ingredients on hand. These brownies are never a miss. PERFECT dessert for whenever I have company coming or just want to treat MYSELF for a change. People think I'm some kind of gourmet chef when they see all the different kinds of chocolate together...
