After reading the reviews I made some adjustments. Instead of all cherry coke I used all of cherry juice and added enough coke for a cup. Then I added almond extract. The frosting is good, however, I blended cool whip, cream cheese, and powdered sugar, spread on top of cake, and finished with a large can of cherry pie filling.

This recipe was delicious!!! I made it for a friend of mine's birthday cake and everyone loved it. They all went back for seconds. :) It was easy to make and the only part that took a long time was waiting for it to cool to add frosting :) Thank you Betty Croker :) I loved the icing and I could definately taste the cherry coke and actual cherry flavor in the cake. Maybe you didnt use enough cherries and maybe you didnt stir the frosting enough and make it smooth to work with. Just be sure to follow the recipe 100% and it turns out great.

Cake was good but that frosting was too sweet, sticky, and completely a mess to work with. You are better to make a basic butter cream with cherry almond flavoring. You also could not taste the cherry flavor in the cake.

This was a great cake. Couldn't really taste the cola, except in the after taste. It was still a great cake and a great variation to mix it up. Just not a cola cake.

I wanted more cherry flavor since I am a HUGE cherry fan. Funny thing was, I forgot to mix the mallow cream with my icing, but it was still good. Actually, with the icing, I mixed the rest of the cherry juice and some powered sugar, but it just turned the icing pink. My family loved it and I will need to make it again, this time following the recipe ;-P

Cake is really moist, I used all the juice from the cherries plus enough cherry cola (about 1/2 cup) to make the 1 cup cola the recipe calls for. Think next time I'll skip the cola and just use extra cherry juice. Got many compliments on the cake and the icing with the marshmallow added.

The cake wasn't bad, but you couldn't taste the cherries at all. It just tasted like your basic chocolate cake. The real treat was the vanilla/marshmallow icing. Loved it. I'll make the icing combo again, but this cake is pointless if you're looking for a cherry dessert.

This recipe is a updated version of the famous Chocolate Coca Cola Chocolate Cake. I really enjoyed the easy preporation and the moistness of Coco Cola of the cake the I remember growing up. MMMMMMM!
