We used margarine for greasing the pan - it worked great. The only other thing we adapted was to use a mixer to mix the batter. I thought the spoon was not blending well enough.
The bars were very good, but VERY rich! Next time I make these, I am going to used pecans instead of M&Ms. This way they would be more like a turtle bar. I think that would help offset the richness of the chocolate and caramel.
