Here’s a creative idea for serving chili at your next winter party! Serve hearty chili in bread bowls you can eat.

I also made a few changes to this recipe, the first of which was that I had to more than double it. I needed to make two and a half times this amount as I cater a church dinner for between 40 and 50 people each Sunday. I multiplied the ingredients by two and then added an additional half recipe. It worked out beautifully! I added two finely chopped green bell peppers and two finely chopped red bell peppers to the first step along with the beef and onions. I added two heaping tablespoons of dry powdered garlic, two packets of chili seasoning with herbs, as well as the recommended amount of chili powder. Also, I used both pinto and kidney beans by taking the whole required bean amount, dividing it in half and allocating the amount equally to each bean. This gave it a wonderful soft yet firm texture!I am sure this will be a hit tomorrow, paired with salad, traditional non-sweet cornbread, and a yummy topping of shredded cheese, sour cream, and yellow minced onion! Really yummy! Thanks!

As Kelli did, I tweaked the recipe a little by adding green bell pepper, but I also added 2 tablespoons of Cumin and I thought it came out wonderful. In one of my B.C. books I bought at the market a while back there is a crockpot recipe called "Family Favorite Chili" which I don't see here on the site, and I thought it was equal or better than that one. Certainly alot faster and yes, I would make this again!

I tweaked the recipe a bit but after I made this chili people were calling me saying it was the best chili they had ever had in their life! While I thought their claims were a bit ridiculous, I would definately make this again. The only thing I changed is I added bell peppers, a little more chili powder to taste, and didn't put in as many crushed tomatoes as the recipe called for. Overall it was a hit!

I used half the ingredients instead, but it wasn''t bad at all. The only thing wrong is that it took me forever to make.I don''t think that I''ll go through all that trouble again!
