Toast the almonds before sprinkling over the casserole. Heat 1/2 cup sliced almonds in an ungreased heavy skillet over medium heat 5 to 7 minutes, stirring frequently until almonds begin to brown, then stirring constantly until light brown.

Use 6 ounces of wide-style chow mein noodles in this recipe.

Good recipe in theory, but needs some tweeking. A little salt and pepper will go a long way here. I added a topping of Jiffy Corn Muffin mix, with about a cup of shredded cheddar cheese mixed in, dolloped over the top, which improved it a bit, but needed to have more liquid added. I'll definitely try this one again, with some modifications.

This recipe sounded promising on paper, but disappointed in the kitchen. It turned out rather bland, but I plan on trying one more time with a few new twists.
