2 1/2
cups chopped cooked chicken or turkey
3/4
cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
1
medium celery stalk, chopped (1/2 cup)
1/2
cup slivered almonds, toasted
1/2
teaspoon onion salt
1
baguette
Lettuce leaf
2
medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
1
container (6 ounces) frozen avocado dip, thawed
Sliced green onion, if desired
  • 1 Mix chicken, mayonnaise, celery, almonds and onion salt. Cut baguette lengthwise in half.
  • 2 Arrange lettuce on bottom half of baguette; top with tomato slices. Spread chicken mixture over tomatoes; top with avocado dip. Sprinkle with green onions. Top with remaining baguette half. Cut diagonally into 8 slices.

Expert Tips

Pick up chicken salad and avocado dip that’s prepared and ready to go from your grocer’s deli to have this sandwich ready with little work on your part. Individual rolls, sometimes called by their French name petit pain, may be easier to assemble and eat than the baguette slices.

A knife with a serrated blade—sometimes called a sandwich or tomato knife—is just the thing for slicing both the tomatoes and finished sandwiches.

So easy to make! Make recipe as is or sometimes add grapes. Either way it's the best I've ever had!

We made this on Mother's Day and fell in love with it! Made minimal substitutions based on what we had in the house but since then we have made it several more times!
