I have used this Betty Crocker recipe for years. I add a splash of almond extract to the filling.I do an egg white wash and sprinkled sugar on the top crust. SOLID "5" RATING!

I have to say that this is a really good basic pie recipe. I don't agree with the statement that sweet cherries don't make good pie. I used extra sweet California cherries with a tbs of lemon juice, and the pie was magnificent! Also, brush the top with egg white and sprinkle with raw sugar before baking. Even better!

Used my own grown cherries from my backyard cherry tree, this year the bounty was unbelievable, I have so many cherries, that I am giving them away! I made this pie and we had it ala mode it didn't need the ice cream but with the ice cream it was even more delicious! My two daughters helped me pit the cherries, so it was a very family oriented experience, I will make this pie again, every year!

Starting from scratch cherry pie is the only way to really enjoy how wonderful it is. This recipe brings me back to my childhood when I picked the cherries, pitted them and made cherry pie with my grandmother. Great recipe and worth the work.
