These cupcakes are horrible!! I am so mad I just wasted time, money and effort on this recipe! The cherry filling dropped all the way to the bottom so when you peel the wrapper off it came out all over your hand! The icing is horrible. It was way too thick and too much sugar. Don't waste your time on these!

You cannot begin to imagine how excited I was when I saw this recipe. I have been looking for a quick and easy cherry cupcake to satisfy my grandma's love of cherries for a while, but unfortunately this recipe let me down. I was looking for a sweet treat, where this recipe tasted like a spoiled cherry tart. I guess ingredients is key. If our looking for a sweet filling I would suggest making your own or using a pudding base with maraschino cherries. Also the frosting tasted rancid, but that could just be my immense hate for shortening. What can I say? I'm a butter girl. The consistency was also way too thick for this type of cupcake. You need a lighter frosting that wont overwhelm the filling. A great idea but not so great taste.

I thought they were very good and easy to make. I think I will try the icing that is on the tiramisu cupcakes next time. It is an 8 oz brick of cream cheese blended with 2 cups of powdered and then add 2 cups of whipping cream, whip to soft peaks. It is a lighter icing. And I think it will go better with the cherry filling.
