Surprise your valentine by drizzling this cherry-topped cake with melted chocolate chips.

Because miniature chocolate chips distribute more evenly than the regular size, you can usually use fewer chips and still get a rich chocolate flavor.

I'm planning to make this cake tonight for a birthday, but just a quick tip. To avoid the chips sinking to the bottom, mix the chips with about a quater cup of flour before adding to the mix. This should help the chocolate chips to stay distrubted through out the batter while baking. Excited to bake.

Cake tasted great. Batter too thin to hold chocolate chips in suspension and most of the chips settled to bottom of cake during baking.

This is very good with and without the cherry topping. I serve the topping on the side because we are eating the cake over a period of days and we didn't want the cake soggy. It's delicious with coffee and tea.
