From Betty's Soul Food Collection... Everyone's fired up about this Mexican-flavored bread, bubbling with cheese, zesty green chiles and a dash of hot pepper sauce to turn up the heat.
cup mayonnaise or salad dressing
cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (4 oz)
cup Old El Paso™ chopped green chiles (from 4.5-oz can)
Dash Frank's™ RedHot™ Original cayenne pepper sauce
loaf (1 lb) French bread, cut in half lengthwise
Heat gas or charcoal grill. In small bowl, mix all ingredients except bread.
Place bread halves, cut sides down, on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; cook 3 to 5 minutes or until lightly toasted.
Spread cheese mixture on toasted sides of bread halves. Place bread, cheese side up, on grill. Cover grill; cook 10 to 15 minutes, or until cheese bubbles and begins to brown.
To broil bread, place bread halves, cut sides up, on broiler pan; broil 6 to 8 inches from heat about 5 minutes or until lightly toasted. Spread cheese mixture on toasted sides of bread halves; broil 2 to 3 minutes longer, or until cheese bubbles and begins to brown.
