Cheeseburger Chowder

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1 can (1 lb 2.5 oz) Progresso™ 99% Light creamy potato with bacon & cheese soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sharp process cheese spread with bacon (from 5-oz jar)
  • 1/4 cup shredded prepared cheese product (1 oz)
  • Chopped tomato, if desired
  • Sliced green onions, if desired

    In 2-quart saucepan, cook beef over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thoroughly cooked; drain.

    Add soup and milk; mix well. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low. Add cheese spread; cook and stir until cheese spread is melted. Top individual servings with shredded cheese, tomato and onions.

  • Serve the soup in colorful mugs along with butterfly- or fish-shaped crackers.
  • Pasteurized process cheese food is a semi-soft cheese that melts more readily and smoothly than natural cheese. To save time, use pre-shredded pasteurized process cheese food.
