my family and I loved this dish made a change in the meat we used a 1/2 lb each of ground beef, italian sausage and pork sausage.otherwise it is good as is or dressed up with veggies.make sure your cook them in sauce for a little while about 15 minutes at 350.

I made a couple changes to the recipe based on what I happened to have on hand. I used Panko crumbs and then added Italian seasoning to compensate for the plain bread crumbs I used. I also used ground chicken and added fresh shredded parmesan cheese and 2 cloves of fresh crushed garlic. I cooked the meatballs in the oven for 10 minutes and then simmered them in the sauce for 25 minutes. It was amazing and a sure-fire make-again!

Most of the cheese melted out either while baking or simmering. When they were done the taste was not so pleasing, I think it had to much oregano leaves. YUCK!!!

I only gave this dish a 3 because the directions say to only bake the meatballs 10 min and I had to bake them more like 15-17 minutes before they went into simmer with the sauce. Once they were done the dish was really tasty.

I make these about once a month. The family LOVES them! Sometimes I don't have time to freeze the cheese and that's ok if you don't mind them oozing a little cheese out when cooking.

I made these and baked it the night before Christmas, but after I reheat the meatball at the party, the cheese didn't melt and gummy.... I still don't understand, but I remember long time ago i freeze some cheese, and they turn gummy after I thraw them. I always like the idea of cheese stuff in meatball, but I don't know I'll try to freeze the cheese again....
