6: cups Honey Nut Cheerios® cereal

6: tablespoons butter or margarine

4 1/2: cups miniature marshmallows

: Betty Crocker® green gel food color

: Betty Crocker® red cinnamon decors or sliced gumdrops

Directions

1 Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper.
2 Pour the cereal into a 4-quart bowl. Set the bowl aside.
3 Place the butter and marshmallows in a 3-quart saucepan. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
4 Stir in the food color until the mixture is evenly colored. Pour the marshmallow mixture over the cereal and stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
5 Lightly spray your hands with cooking spray. For each tree, shape about 1/4 cup of the cereal mixture into a Christmas tree shape on the cookie sheet.
6 Press the candies into the trees to decorate. Refrigerate until firm, about 1 hour. Store the trees in a loosely covered container.

I just made these and they're really easy to make. I used the water trick that somebody else mentioned and it worked really well, just had to wet them every time you got more of the mix. :) Will make them again for next Christmas.

instead of using cooking spray or butter for your hands! Run cold water on your hands from the faucet then work with your cherios or ricecrispy bars!! way better and faster! just have your hands wet! you also may need to let cool a little for it to form like a tree

I too made these and they were a huge hit both by the adults as well as the kids. They are sticky to work with but I didn't have any trouble shaping theme into trees. The only challenge I came across was the decorating part but with a little imagination I'm sure the ultimate Cheerio Christmas tree can be achieved! A really fun and different than the usual treat that you see at this time of year. Can't wait to try again!!
