Cheddar-Salsa Biscuit Bites

cups Gold Medal® self-rising flour

cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
1/2
cup Old El Paso® Thick 'n Chunky salsa
1/4
cup butter or margarine, melted
1/4
cup water

  • 1 Heat oven to 425°F. Generously grease large cookie sheet with shortening or cooking spray. In large bowl, stir together flour and cheese. Add remaining ingredients; stir just until blended.
  • 2 On lightly floured surface, knead dough gently just until smooth. Press or roll out dough to 12x6-inch rectangle. With sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut dough into 1-inch-wide strips; cut each strip into 2-inch pieces. With thin spatula, place strips about 1/2 inch apart on cookie sheet.
  • 3 Bake 11 to 13 minutes or until light golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Serve warm.

These came out dry and taste sort of powdery. They smell good and look very nice but it's just dry and plain and doesn't have "kick" to it. They are OK if you use dip such as nacho cheese or salsa, serve them with soup or something. I have to work on this for improvement.
