Cheddar and Sausage Waffles

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
  • 1 1/3 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
  • 1/3 lb bulk pork sausage, cooked and drained (1 cup)

Steps

    Heat waffle iron; grease if necessary. In large bowl, stir all ingredients until blended.

    Pour about 1 cup batter onto center of hot waffle iron; close lid.
  • 3
    Bake about 5 minutes or until steaming stops. Carefully remove waffle. Repeat with remaining batter.

  • To prevent waffles from sticking, prepare waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions. After each use, remove all traces of baked-on batter or crumbs.
  • Besides maple syrup, apples in any form will taste delicious with these waffles. Try fresh apple slices, chunky apple sauce, apple butter, hot apple pie filling or fried apples with cinnamon. So simple, so good!
