EXPERT TIPS

Expert Tips

To prevent waffles from sticking, prepare waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions. After each use, remove all traces of baked-on batter or crumbs.

Besides maple syrup, apples in any form will taste delicious with these waffles. Try fresh apple slices, chunky apple sauce, apple butter, hot apple pie filling or fried apples with cinnamon. So simple, so good!

The batter was extremely thick, making it hard to spread in the iron. The sausage and cheese didn't give enough flavor, even though there is a cup of each in the batter.
