Sliced apples bake into the top of this rich, tempting cake. It's easy and fun because the caramel sauce forms while it bakes.

I just made this dessert & tried it & it was very good! I tried a second piece & drizzled extra caramel topping over the cake, then added whipped cream, excellent!

We were really disappointed with this dessert recipe. I had made an apple crisp type recipe last week that was fantastic. We had a few more apples that needed to be used so I tried this one for a different taste. Not good at all - very little caramel, apples stay on the top and just don't look nice. I added cinnamon to the apples, cinnamon and vanilla to the Bisquick cake part as suggested in other reviews. Still not good! I threw the recipe away.

I thought this dessert was ok--mine didn't seem to make too much of the caramel sauce. I also agree with someone else in that I thought there was a LOT of sugar in this recipe. Next time I need an apple dessert I'll probably stick with one of my other regularly used apple recipes.

Made this today for my husband. His response at first bite was"yum". I cut the slices in half so they would not be so large. The aroma as it cooked was wonderful, the taste was like apple pie. I used low fat bisquick, splenda for half of the white suger, sprayed the pan with pam and it turned out just like the picture. Will make again.

I made this for my euchre club the other night and everyone loved it. They all asked for the recipe. My husband also said that he liked it better than apple pie. I did, however, precook my apples in a little bit of butter and cinnamon the second time that I made it, so they were not quite so crunchy when the cake was done. It was a bit hit with everyone.
