I gave it a 5 because the idea is so cute. However, when I made them my 3 yr old said, "Yeah, mom made hamburger cookies!" I did not take them to her preschool party as intended but we enjoyed them at home!

"BAKING TIP" - To avoid BLOB cookies, after you cut out cookies and place them on the pan, put the pan in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 minutes. Chilled dough will hold its shape, and ensure no blobs. Warm dough will not hold it's shape. I absolutely love these cookies!! Everyone raved last year about how great and unique they were. I originally made these for my pre-schooler to bring to school for his class party. Then, when my sixteen year old "football player" son came home and saw them,I had to bake 2 more batches because he wanted to bring them to school to share with his friends too!

I love these cookies! I have made them for my customer for about 4 years for Halloween. They are always a hit! One hint make a double batch. It is much easier to work with. Also back off of the chocolate just a little. Good luck!

I impressed the ladies in my painting class with these last Fall. Plan on using same recipe except shape and color for Easter eggs.

These cookies tasted yummy, but definitely did not come out looking the way I had hoped. I had a hard time layering the dough perfectly to make straight lines (for the colors)...but I also didn't have the right pan. They don't expand in size too much, but I will cut them smaller next time to try and get the triangle shape. Some ended up being rounded. The recipe does make a nice amount of cookies...I was able to make little baggies for about 5 people.

These were a total failure! I watched the video, followed the reviewer's comments (added Tbs flour) but they were a flop. They turned out huge, so I cut them smaller the second time but they never held their triangle shape. They came out as blobs (even though I put them back into the fridge before baking) and the layers separated in the oven. So sad, I was looking forward to serving them.

This is just an observation/reminder. I have read in several recipe reviews, and twice in reviews for this recipe alone about results not looking like the picture. This is true especially with dessert recipe pictures. In the pictures they use food stylists. It is their job to make it look appealing and 'perfect'. They chop, decorate etc similar to a painter. Unless the home cook is a food stylist who is trying to make things look absolutely perfect and take a long time on every tiny detail the result for the home cook most likely will not look like the pictures. They use them to make it look nice and give you an idea of how the result will look. I have read many reviews that say a recipe that takes 20 minutes is time consuming let alone spending 20 minutes on each item with tweezers etc.Of course it wont look exactly like the picture.

these were great cookies, i added the extra tbsp flour to the dough and recommend the youtube video www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zm5_LS9nDIU and i baked them slightly underdone about 6 min so the color looked the same on the back, when cooked til edges are brown the backs were brown too. We use this recipe at christmas too with green and chocolate then dip half the cookie into melted chocolate and sprinkle with chopped pecans or toffee bits.

Mixed these up yesterday and put in frig and cut today! Very easy and FUN to make and turned out very cute! I might try doubling the dough recipe next time because I did have trouble having enough to make a good size layer of each color. I didn't do the chocolate, I used yellow food coloring for the third layer. I couldn't find the paste food coloring so I used gel food coloring, which worked very well. Also, if it's going to take awhile to cook them all, next time I would cut them all and put on a cookie sheet and put in the frig in between batches, because they are hard to pick up to put on the cookie sheet without messing up the triangular shape if they've been sitting out for awhile!

Although these cookies take a little bit of time to make, they are well worth the effort, and what compliments I received when I took them into the office for my co-workers. Great treats.
