Add something flaky to your family's Italian cuisine night! Serve calzones stuffed with chicken and baked to perfection for dinner.

Ingredients

1
can refrigerated pizza crust dough
2
cups shredded mozzarella cheese (8 ounces)
1
cup cooked chicken, cut into thin strips
1/2
cup ricotta cheese
1/4
cup chopped fresh basil leaves
2
roma (plum) tomatoes, chopped
Freshly ground pepper
1
large egg, slightly beaten

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 375º. Grease 2 cookie sheets.
  • 2 Divide dough into 6 equal parts. Roll each part into 7-inch circle on lightly floured surface with floured rolling pin.
  • 3 Top half of each dough circle with mozzarella cheese, chicken, ricotta cheese, basil and tomatoes to within 1 inch of edge. Sprinkle with pepper. Carefully fold dough over filling; pinch edges or press with fork to seal securely.
  • 4 Place calzones on cookie sheets. Brush with egg. Bake about 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Expert Tips

A calzone is a stuffed pizza that looks like a big turnover. For extra flavor, serve with a jar of tomato sauce for dipping. That's the traditional way!
