I actually haven't tried making these, but I used to have a recipe for Cream Cheese Cookies using a yellow cake mix and cream cheese...BUT, I've lost the recipe and am dying to make them again. Anyone have any ideas for an adaptation (they weren't frosted, as that would have made them sickenly sweet, lol!)?

I really liked these cookies. They taste yummy and the frosting isn't too sweet. The first batch burned because I made them on parchment paper and that was a mistake! The rest came out fine when baked on a regular ungreased cookie sheet. Also, I didn't make them into sandwiches...I just frosted the top of each cookie. So easy!!

Made these in bright primary colors for preschool graduation. The kids ate them all before the parents even made it into the room. I didn't get a lot of cake flavor out of the cookies...I think plain sugar cookies would have been fine. I had no trouble with this recipient though. I made mortar board cupcakes with the leftover cake mix.

Awesome recipe no matter what color frosting is in them! I don't understand why people have so many problems with recipes, but maybe they need to "carefully" follow the directions by "reading" them a few times before they begin. Also check your oven temperature, don't trust what the dial says. Don't substitute anything until you have made the recipe at least once! More people are disappointed in the results because they don't follow directions because they don't read the instructions carefully.

I'm not sure why some peoples did not spread out, I've made these 3 times now and have not had a problem. A few tips I've noticed, they are done when you see a few cracks in them, although they may be very soft at first. After rolling them in the cake mix sprinkle the remaining on them on the cookie sheet, they seem to soak it up as they cook. Also I made them then put birthday cake ice cream in the middle and put them in the freezer, big hit! Everyone loves the flavor of these cookies. Just make sure to not overcook them because they aren't as good when they are hard.

I made these for my son's birthday party this past weekend and everyone loved them! They cooked perfectly at 7 mins. and stayed chewy. I, personally, didn't care for the frosting but I think it's because I prefer cream cheese frosting. I will try that next time. Not sure about the issues that others had.

Not a fan at all!! I don't know what went wrong with these cookies. I tried to make them tonight (I am a seasoned baker)and they were awful. They needed to cook longer than was in the recipe, they did not spread nicely and some of them just did not seem cooked even after they were supposedly done. I am so glad I had a back up plan because there was no way I could bring these to work for our party. Not making these again. However if anyone has any suggestions as to how to make these cookies actually work I am all ears.
