cup shortening, chilled

cup buttermilk
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.In a bowl, stir flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda until well mixed. Add shortening to flour mixture and mix with a pastry blender.Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Pour buttermilk all at once. Then stir until dough forms.
  2. Gather the dough in a lightly flour surface. Knead very gently about 5 or 6 times until dough holds together. Gently pat or roll out the dough about 1/2 inch thick. Use a round biscuit cutter 2 or 2 1/2 inches diameter. Place biscuits 1 1/2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12- minutes or until evenly brown
