Bet you can't say "butter biscuits" five times fast! These tender, flaky biscuits sure will disappear in a hurry.

Just tried these for dinner to accompany a very savory chowder. I wanted savory biscuits as well, so I doubled this recipe and when it called for 1 1/3 c. milk (doubled recipe) I measured 1 cup of good quality tomato salsa, then added enough mild to make 1 1/2 c. total. I used a little more milk than the recipe called for to make up for the thickness and less liquid of the salsa. The result was a tender, buttery, savory biscuit that the whole family raved over. Next time I will also add a little salt. I plan to eat the leftovers for breakfast with pepper jam!

Love Love love these Biscuits my family has them every night, my son thinks I'm the best cook in the world. My husband also agrees mainly because he can only make one thing which is boiled water. But I do have one tip instead of useing whole milk make a simple buttermilk bye adding a tablespoon of lemon juice to whole milk and wait five min. and there you go instant buttermilk to add in any recipe.

WOW!!! These turned out just like my mother used to make from scratch. I followed the recipe the the "T" and they were light, flakey and golden brown. Perfect with the pan gravy I made for our breakfast. I will definitely save this as my main recipe for family or company meals. As for the previous reviewer that stated they didn't taste buttery, mine were delicious and just enough butter taste to make them irresistible. Not a single one leftover.

I found this receipe more than 20 years ago when I lived in Germany. These were the first biscuits I made from scratch and will always be the only ones I make! My family loves these for breakfast with sausage gravy or for dinner with butter!
