Brown Sugar BBQ Rub

Ingredients

tablespoons packed brown sugar

tablespoons Mexican chili powder

tablespoons ground cumin

tablespoons kosher (coarse) salt

tablespoon ground cinnamon

tablespoon black pepper

tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes

tablespoon arbol chile powder
  • 1 In medium bowl, stir all ingredients until well combined.
  • 2 Divide among 3 (4-oz) jars or containers with tight-fitting lids. Cover.

Expert Tips

Give as a gift. Decorate each jar with ribbon and a tag.

If you cannot find arbol chile powder, substitute ground red pepper (cayenne).

This rub is quite spicy; for a milder taste, reduce the red pepper flakes to 1 teaspoon and the arbol chile powder to 1 teaspoon.
