oz Sliced White Mushrooms

Cup Dry White Wine

Cups Chicken Broth

Lb Cubed, Toasted French Bread

Lb Cubed, Toasted Pumpernickel Bread
  1. Cook bacon until crisp. Drain (reserve 2 Tbsp of the grease). Add onion, celery, & carrots, cook: stir occasionally, 5 minutes. Add mushrooms cook additional 5 minutes, stir occasionally.
  2. Add sage, thyme, salt, nutmeg, & pepper. Stir in wine, cook until reduced by half (about 1-2 minutes) Add broth, bring to simmer 1 minute.
  3. Sitr in bread cubes, mix well. Spoon into greased casserole dish. Cover let stand 10 minutes before serving.
