Has anyone tried adding vanilla extract to the batter? If so, how did it turn out?

Excellent coffee cake - did add almond flavoring to cake and also the glaze. Made one for Easter and another baking now to stick in the freezer.

I'm not fan of cake in general. However, this is good, tastes just like a coffecake should. For the drizzle I used powdered sugar, melted butter and whole milk. I used a glass 9x9 baking dish so mine was peaked in the middle with a crispy edge. The sweetness of the cake is going to be based on the sweetness of the berries. I used frozen berries, rinsed & drained.

I made this recipe last night and brought it into work this morning. Everyone in my office LOVED it! It went great w/vanilla flavored Nescafe Tasters Choice... ;-)

This was soooooo good!! Not too sweet and not to bland. I took the advice of one of the cooks, to use a teaspoon of almond extract in the batter and for the glaze, in place of the vanilla. This coffee cake does not disappoint, DELICIOUS!!

this was the BEST coffee cake ever!! It was completely gone within minutes. Strongly suggest making this! The only thing that i might change next time is that i liked one members idea about adding some almond extract to the actual cake batter, but it was soooooooo good!!

This cake was extremely moist. The topping gave the cake the perfect amount of sweetness. However, I think the cake needs a little more flavor. It would have been very bland without the topping. Next time I will make it with vanilla extract, almond extract, or lemon zest.

I made this coffee cake for Sunday breakfast. My husband & I loved it! I followed the recipe exactly as written and wouldn't change a thing. I froze the leftovers and look forward to enjoying it 3 more times.
