Ingredients

pouch (10.25 oz) Betty Crocker™ fudge brownie mix
1/3
cup vegetable oil
2
tablespoons water
1
egg
1
can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
2
tablespoons almond-flavored liqueur, if desired
1
cup whipping cream
1
tablespoon powdered sugar
1/4
teaspoon cocoa, if desired

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 9-inch glass pie plate with baking spray with flour. Make brownie mix as directed on pouch, using oil, water and egg. Pour batter into pie plate.
  • 2 Bake 24 to 26 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out almost clean. Cool 30 minutes.
  • 3 In small bowl, stir together pie filling and liqueur. Cut brownie into 6 wedges. Place each wedge on individual serving plate. Spoon about 1/3 cup cherry mixture over each wedge.
  • 4 In medium bowl, beat whipping cream and powdered sugar with electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form. Add dollop of whipped cream to each serving. Sprinkle with cocoa.

The name of these brownies stems from the same flavors found in an exquisite chocolate-cherry torte, which was embellished with cherry liqueur (Kirsch) and whipped cream, that originated in Germany's Black Forest region.

Sprinkling the dessert wth cocoa makes it special. Put the cocoa in a tea strainer and lightly shake it over the dessert.
