I have made this recipe twice and everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. It tastes better when it's made a couple of hours in advance. Great for anytime!

I took this recipe to a picnic today and everyone loved it! It was very simple and easy to make and it looked great in a trifle bowl. The only thing I did different was that I made a double batch of brownies and used 2 cans of cherry pie filling and it completely filled my trifle bowl. I had plenty of whipped cream without doubling it. I was going to sprinkle the top with blueberries, but I forgot to pick them up, so I sprinkled cocoa powder on top instead. I will definitely be making this again!

This is a nice variation to something my family has made for years. Try mixing the pie mix right into the brownie mix, incl the almond extract. However, it works best with a devil's food cake mix. In a hurry, and no time to bake? Get the brownie bites already made from the grocery store. That should save you a lot of time!

I have not tried this recipe, but would probably bake the brownies in my miniature muffin pan (17 min) for a variation.

For a quicker (but just as tasty) version, add entire amount of almond extract to cherry pie filling and use thawed, frozen whipped topping instead. Mmmmm!!!
