Directions

1 Heat gas grill. Wash clams one at a time, scrubbing lightly to remove sand from outside.
2 Set grill-proof pan (camping pan or cast iron pan) on grill rack. Pour beer into pan.
3 Place clams on grill over medium heat. Cover grill; steam clams 5 minutes. Check and remove any clams that are wide open. Cover grill; continue steaming 5 minutes longer or until all clams have opened wide. Serve immediately.

If a clam doesn’t open, discard it. Don’t ever try to force clams to open.

A good lager produces great flavor for the clams.

Littleneck clams are best for this preparation.

You'll need some lemon, pepper and hot sauce on the side for serving these babies, and more beer to wash them down. Bur increase the quantity based on the number of revelers- a normal male will consume a dozen, easily.
