I cannot give this recipe 5 spoons because let's face it, this is not the most nutritious dinner. I made recipe w/red wine and found our sauce to be too pink, I'd recommend just using meat stock next time. The fact that it's beef, wine, meat stock, butter AND SOUR CREAM makes this a heart attack in the making. Know that it will be delicious but as my mom always said "A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips"....please Betty, let's get into this millennium before it's over.

BIG HIT with my family. My mother made Stroganoff (with ground beef)one time when I was a kid. My dad and brother and I all made fun of it (looked liked it had already been eaten) so she never made it again. My family loved this recipe and so did I. I promptly called my mother and apoligized. She is still the best cook I know.

Good recipe - If you have more than 35 minutes to make it, simmering the beef in the broth for at least an hour will make it extreamly tender.

Very good recipe - but I cut down the cooking time for the beef so it's not tough and chewy. I browned the beef like the recipe says, then removed the beef from the pan while simmering the wine/beef broth for 10 minutes by itself (I used 50/50 wine/broth). I added the beef back in only for the last 5 minutes of wine/broth simmering, and then followed the recipe exactly from that point to finish up. Meat came out much better, not exactly tender but far less tough than when I simmered for the full 15 minutes. A big hit at our house!

This recipe was delicious. Although, when I got ready to make it I realized that I didn't have mushrooms, so at the end I put in a can of mushroom soup. Thank you for this recipe.
