I thought this recipe was different with the Bisquick up top, and I didn't have problem with the dough- making about 6 spoonfuls. I would recommend not using just straight salsa, too salty. Maybe add 50/50 mix of salsa and Rotel. Watch the sodium- Heart disease is a killer!

I agree with others about the dough not cooking right. I made the bisquits smaller and cooked them longer, but still too doughy. Instead we put them in a taco shell, very deicious.

We love Mexican food so this recipe caught my eye. My husband is very good about letting me know if a new dish is good or not and whether it should be brought back again. He really liked this one! I made it according to recipe (did use some pretty spicy salsa to kick it up a bunch) and I didn't have any problem with the biscuits being too doughy. However, as I was watching it cook I did wonder if my skillet lid having a steam vent in it to let out some of the moisture was what was helping the biscuits cook. Anyway, this is recipe going to become a staple in my kitchen. Without the biscuits and a little more tweaking it could be a super chili recipe for this winter.

Delicious! I wasn't sure about this. It is one of those that doesn't look as good as it tastes. I made some Spanish rice with it & hoped for the best. Anyway, my husband, two sons, and I all absolutely loved it. And it made enough that we had a few leftovers for me & my husband to have at lunch the next day. My son said it tastes like taco rice biscuits - exactly. Very, very good!

EASY! TASTY! This was so quick to make. I doubled the recipe (have a house full of boys). Thought I would have some leftovers...NOT. Made it Sunday afternoon around 2 and it was gone by 9 that night. The only thing I did a little differently besides doubling the recipe, was to add onions to the meat (like someone else posted already). We are onion lovers in this house. And, I made a second batch of the bisquick chilli powder biscuits and baked them in the oven at 425 for 10-15 minutes. Great tasting meal. Better than chilli. The biscuits were extremely easy to make and very tasty. Will make again!

I have to say this recipe was very good I was looking through the site last night looking for something quick and quick it was. I like others wasn't sure about the chili powder but it surly works.I added onions while browning my meat to give it more flavor and I also added cheese to the biscuits and it worked out well.I will know doubt make this again. Thanks for posting it .. Candy

I NEVER Would've thought to add these ingedianets together but EVERYONE even the picky 12 year old loved it. NO left overs. That's the highest praise you can get in this house.

Be sure to not get the dumplings too large or they will have a little dough in the middle. I was afraid the chili powder amount would prove too much, but it didn't! It was wonderful.

This skillet meal was very good and I plan to make it again. The chili part of the dish was excellent. My 10 year old enjoyed scooping it up w/ tortilla chips and my husband said twice how much he liked it. The reason I rated it a 4 was because of the dumplings. I am accustomed to making dumplings, however these were more "doughy" than usual. They tasted as if they were not cooked all the way, except they were in fact cooked thoroughly. Next time I make this, I will make the dumplings w/ milk instead of water to see if that helps. I also regretted using cheese, as they coated the dumplings in an unpleasing way - contributing to the "undercooked" taste.
